Stephen H. Willard 1894-1966 American ( California) Photographer.

In the 1920’s SHW, while residing in Palm Springs, CA began photographing the Coachella Valley and the surrounding desert areas. Even though he was more interested in experimental photography as an art form, he had to cater to the tourist trade in order to support his family.

From his studio in Palm Springs CA he made his own prints and real photo postcard, maintaining a high and consistent print quality.

In 1998, Denver’s very own Hal D Gould of The Camera Obscura Gallery valued over 1600 items of his work. This formal appraisal resulted in 100 pages of detailed description. This appraisal is a testament of SHW’s photographic accomplishments.

In 1999, Dr Beatrice E Willard, Boulder, CO, donated her father’s work to the Palm Springs Art Museum.

Willard’s legacy has yet to be discovered, the book yet to be written.

The photographs and images speak for themselves.

Prices in line with Real Photo Postcards and Photo Prints $8.00 to $600.00 +

William Henry Jackson Colorado Photographs

Fresh from the Colorado History Museum garage sale, 8  panels making there first public showing since the sale. Each panel has 2  8x10 b/w images printed from a Jackson negative. The panels are from a display put together in the 70's by  the CHM for public viewing and educational purposes. I found these especially interesting since some of the views have the Detroit Photographic name and number on the image. Me, with a printers background find the excellent quality of the Detroit Photographic/Publishing postcard most desirable, then of course most of the images belonged to WHJ.

Per panel price range $65.00 to $85.00
