26th annual Rocky Mountain Book & Paper Fair
features exhibitors from across the US, Canada and Europe
For anyone who's ever loved a book, the Rocky Mountain Book & Paper Fair
is an annual must-see in Denver. Now in it's 26th year, the internationally renowned
show returns August 6 - 7 to the Denver Merchandise Mart, with a few notable new twists.
The expanded show floor will feature 80 exhibitors from across the US, Canada and Europe
- an increase of over 20 percent from last year's fair. Friday night's preview gala will
include live jazz and wine tasting. And Saturday's programming has been greatly enhanced to
include a variety of audience participation events, workshops and panel discussions.
While several innovative bells and whistles were added by the show's new promoter, Dana Cain,
the main attraction is still the impressive collection of vintage and rare books and ephemera.
Thousands of antique books, collectible first editions, signed books, and more will be offered for sale,
at prices ranging from $5 to more than $5,000. This year's show will also feature an expanded selection
of vintage ephemera and paper goods, including maps, postcards, photographs, advertisements, brochures,
and an incredible variety of all things paper - and old.
Friday night's Preview Gala, 5 - 9 pm, includes a lively audience participation panel to decide
"The Greatest Author of the 20th Century," in addition to live jazz by Wonderlic and wine tasting
with several Colorado vineyards.
Saturday's Fair hours are 10am - 5pm, with events scheduled almost every hour. This year's special focus
on "Vintage Photography" is showcased in a 12:00 panel discussion on "Colorado History through Vintage Photography"
with Mark Sink, Rob Lewis and Jim Milmoe, three of the region's biggest names in the genre.
Admission is $5 Saturday; $10 Friday night (includes re-admission on Saturday). More information, including
a complete vendor list and event schedule, is online at www.rmaba.org.
