40 volume set with over 1200 beautiful hand colored plates. Originally published in individual books from 1833-43. This is the very early reprint, nicely bound in quarter leather with marbled boards. Fine.

First edition bound in half leather. 49 plates including 21 chromolithos. (4 of which have been finished by hand) and 8 tinted, folding lithograph elevation of Himalayas in rear. An extraordinary travelogue of her explorations from 1822-1845. Very good, half leather with raised bands and all edges gilt.
Cristobal Acosta. Published in Venice 1585
First and only Italian edition of a seminal illustrated botanical work on plants of the East Indies and the Americas. Acosta was a Portuguese Jesuit naturalist and physician who pioneered the study of plants for use in pharmacology. The moon's Acosta Crater is named in honor of his scientific expeditions and study. The last two woodcuts illustrate his treatise on the Indian elephant. Excellent condition in vellum binding.

Very good plus. Original green cloth with the more desirable color pictorial. Others have simple black embossing on spine and front board. Complete with all tissue guarded plates and maps.

History of Ethiopia by Hiob Ludolf. Important early linguistic and cultural study with folding engraved map and 6 engraved plates, 5 folding, 2 double-page printed genealogical tables. This map is the first ever to show the source of the Blue Nile at Lake Tana. Nicely rebacked with original boards.
