Chapman, Kenneth M. PUEBLO INDIAN POTTERY [Two Volumes] from specimens in the famous collection of the Indian art fund, with introduction and notes by Kenneth M. Chapman, Curator of Indian arts fund and the laboratory of anthroplogy, Santa Fe, (New Mexico) . Nice, France 1933-1936: C. Szwedzicki, First Edition. Folio. Limited edition of only 750 copies signed by the publisher C. Szwedzicki. Two volumes in original portfolios (12"x17 1/2"); with ties; vellum pictorial label on front cover of each; containing 100 photo-lithographic hand-colored plates laid in (50 in each portfolio) Two text volumes are in parallel; English in the left column and French in the right column and are stitched, title pages are printed in red and black. Minor wear to portfolios, but text and plates are fine; bookplate of Spokane Public Library on pastedowns. A complete set, quite rare, locating only one set at auction since 1984. [pb.6023] $6000.00

Limited to 3200 copies for presentation, frontispiece portrait of Steinbeck, bound in original beige wrappers printed in red. A fine bright copy housed in a custom red morocco slipcase and chemise. Small Octavo. half-title, frontispiece, xi, 178pp., bound in salmon cloth pictorially stamped and ruled in gilt, spine lettering gilt, pictorial salmon endpapers, top edge gilt, minor of-setting to endpapers, slight smudge to bottom corner of upper board otherwise quite nice, nearly fine in handsome, slightly rubbed and soiled pictorial dust jacket with just a fraction of wear to spine ends and corners. A lovely copy with a 4"x6" illustrated 1 page prospectus laid in advertising The Christopher Robin Calendar, 1929 and When We Were Very Young Notepaper with just a bit of off-setting from jacket and a very tiny closed tear to bottom edge. First printing with all first printing points as per BAL 13662 including the (6)pp. ads at rear, in first cloth binding of slate, upper and lower boards blind stamped with Harper and Brothers, New York within an ornate frame, spine lettering gilt, yellow coated endpapers, front pastedown with small name plate or article partially removed, scattered foxing throughout but mostly clean, light damp stain to gutter of preliminary leaves. binding tight, no chipping, fraying nor repairs, tiny spot to spine, covers rubbed with minor bubbling of cloth to upper portion of front board, corners lightly bumped. In all, a remarkably nice copy house in a custom morocco backed slipcase and chemise. [pb.3623] $4000.00
