Description: All volumes first editions, with Scribner A on copyright page. A comprehensive biography of the first American president and leader of the American armies in the American Revolution, published between 1948 and 1957. Volumes 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 share separate slipcases, vols. 5 & 6 are housed in individual slipcases, and vol. 7 is without a slipcase. All volumes with numerous drawings, photos, portraits, documents and maps. The works in this set include: Volume 1 & 2: Young Washington, V.3: Planter and Patriot, V.4: Leader of the Revolution, V.5: Victory With the Help of France, V.6: Patriot and President, V.7: First in Peace. Volume Seven was written by John Alexander Carroll and Mary Wells Ashworth and was published after Mr. Freeman's death, in an effort to complete the life of Washington. --- In full dark blue cloth-covered hardcovers w/blindstamped Washington family coat of arms on front, titling and decorations gilt-stamped on spine. Slipcases with title blocks and illustrations pasted thereon. --- All copies are firm and bright and Very Good to Very Good+. Slipcases with sunning, wear and tear but functional. Very Good to Very Good+

The marvelous black and white photography of Mr. Weston is presented this folio-sized (12-1/2 in. wide x 15 in. tall) volume. The photographer offers a variety of subjects, from nudes to landscapes to reflections on glass, all with an emphasis on intriguing shapes and forms. With a lengthy introduction by Dody W. Thompson. --- In full black cloth-covered boards with artist facsimile signature stamped in silver on cover. Silver-stamped titling on spine, and with special offer envelope from the publisher laid in. --- A clean, bright firm copy lacking markings but with a hint of sunning to cloth edges. Jacket with very slight chafing to edges; in removable archival mylar protector. (28), 100 pages. NF/NF.

Description: Author's collection of poems in a limited edition. With wood engravings by Blair Hughes-Stanton. Numbered 104 of a limited edition of 500; so noted on front limitation page. This volume's erotic illustrations, seemingly in three-dimensions, are extraordinary. --- In vellum backed marbled paper-covered boards with gilt-stamped spine titling; top edge gilt. Oversize (folio), measuring approx. 9 in. wide x 14 in. tall. Printed on mould-made paper at the Shenval Press, England. --- With some light foxing and yellowing to ever-so-slightly warped covers. Interior leaves also a bit yellowed & foxed; overall volume is clean and the engravings are bright and very special. 195 pages. Very good.

Description: Meets Todd & Bowen first state points (140Aa): Vol. I, pgs. 159-306 are misnumbered 151-298, dash above date measures 10mm, title page quotation exclamation point after 'depart!' is above space between 'O' and 'R' in 'PRIOR'. --- The original three-volume set bound in half calf over marbled boards. Back strips have been replaced (in calf) at some point. (Note: front hinge had been partially torn, has been professionally repaired with reinforcement inside and out.) Eight gilt double-rules, each volume; black spine block titles & vol. no. in gilt on all spines. Boards measure approx. 4-3/4 x 7-1/4 inches. Includes 33-page dedicatory epistle attributed to Laurence Templeton. --- With previous owner's signature on title pages of all three copies. Textblock edges likely trimmed a bit by binder. Volumes are all firm, leaves quite bright. With considerable edge wear and darkening to the marbled paper covers. Good.

Number 1448 of a limited edition of 1500 copies and signed on rear limitation page by John Groth. --- In blue and grey cloth-covered boards with gilt-stamped titling and decorations on spine. Colors reversed on each volume. Printed by The Sign of the Stone Book in Bloomfield, Connecticut. Volumes housed in blue paper-covered slipcase, and in glassine jackets. --- Fine copies: bright, clean and unmarked. Near Fine slipcase with minor rubbing & slight soiling, otherwise in solid shape. Glassine jackets with minor creasing and small tears at extremities. Overall, a lovely copy of this American classic. 593 pages. Fine.
