Vol I ; xxviii, 436 pp with 7 maps after text and 8 pp of ads after maps Vol II: xvii, 439 pp with large folding map in rear pocket..Together containing " 388 illustrations from photographs, water-color sketches,( reproduced in B&W) and drawings by the author." Texts are clean, tight and unmarked., not all pages have been cut. Folding map is undamaged but slightly wrinkled from folding. Bound in maroon cloth with gold-stamped titles along spines and a drawing of Hedin in Tibetan dress stamped in gold on the front boards.Top page edges in bright gilt. Boards are clean and intact with light bumping to extremities. A popular edition of Hedin's exploration in Tibet and Central Asia in 1906-1908. Hedin traversed the Chang-tang in Tibet then through Srinagar and Leh he reached Shigatse. From there he went back to Lake Manasarowar along the Tsangpo and descended the Indus circling back through Leh and ending in Simla.
